One more post for the day to test the development of the site...
Today, I am sharing one of the best bunkers I have had the opportunity to visit. It is fully equipped with essential items such as gas masks, protective clothing, dosimetric and chemical reconnaissance equipment. The bunker is in pristine condition, as if it has never been touched.
Our team enters the bunker through the massive, hermetically sealed doors. The doors feature a curved shape, designed to better withstand the impact of a nuclear blast.
The first room on our left has seats for people and a storage area.
As we delve deeper into the bunker, we come across a warehouse filled with an array of equipment, some of which are unfamiliar to us. This is a highlight of this particular bunker. Among the items found, we discovered a DP-5V dosimeter set, a highly sought-after item that is known to "grow feet" and disappear from the bunkers first.
The DP-5V dosimeter set itself.
Other equipment: dosimeter sets DP-22, DP-24 and chemical recoinassance devices VPChR, they're designed to detect chemical warfare agents such as mustard gas, phosgene, hydrogen cyanide and others.
Rebreather sets IP-46 in pristine condition, they use a chemical reaction between alkali metal peroxides and CO2 to absorb the carbon and release oxygen to breathe - thus making an endless oxygen recycling cycle until the peroxide reagent runs out. These rebreathers are very rare because the masks are poorly made and tend to disintegrate over time.
And a last look at the posters before we leave:
It was certainly an unforgettable experience visiting this Cold War-era time capsule.
Success!
